Calculation

The program to calculate the road tax enables you to calculate the amount you have to pay during the period when payment is due (which coincides with the month following the expiry date).

  • For example: for road tax which expired on 31/12/2008 the period for payment is from 1/01/2009 to 2/02/2009 (31/01/2009 is Saturday)

If the calculation is done on a date after the period when payment is due, the service will also calculate any fine and interest due.

  • For example: if the calculation is done from 1/01/2009 to 2/02/2009 for motor cars whose road tax expired on 31/12/2008, no fine or interest will be charged. If, however, the calculation is done after 2/02/2009, fines and interest will be calculated.

If, however, the calculation is made before the period of payment, the program will refer to the expiry of the previous year and indicate the increases due.

  • For example: If for a road tax which expires on 30/04/2009 the calculation is made in a date prior to the period of payment (1-31/05/2009), will be shown an increased amount of penalties and interest because the program takes as a reference to the (earlier) deadline of April 2008 and therefore considers the late payment.

N.B. if the program indicates fines and interest, this does not necessarily imply that payments already made are irregular.

Road tax falls under the jurisdiction of the Regional authorities who are responsible for managing the data bases relating to payments made.
